Greenhouse Launches USB-powered 15.6-inch Monitors
While nobody is going to go gaga over the specs on this little beast (except for maybe the power consumption just 5 watts) having a 3 pound monitor to tote around without having to worry about finding a suitable outlet is kind of a handy thing. The new GH-USD16K monitor is designed to be a secondary for those who need dual monitor support only some of the time hence the USB powered design. The concept is simple: plop it on your desk (milk crates work too), plug it into your USB port and go.
Capable of supporting 1366 x 768 resolutions and 18bit color, it’s not going to make your eyeballs bleed though the 220 nits of brightness are all going to do their darndest but as a productivity tool or an emergency back-up it’s not a bad idea. Did I mention that it’s also the biggest USB powered monitor available (but only by .2 inches)?
The GH-USD16K monitor can also be used to clone displays or even extend the viewing area of your primary monitor—how Minority Report! But the absolute coolest thing about this Greenhouse gadget is the price. It retails for $219. That’s cheaper than a crappy primary monitor in most cases.
Head to your favorite e-tailer today and snap one up before they’re upstaged.
